Almost 200 microblogging professionals, developers and enthusiasts in the scene got together in Hamburg, Germany at the very first microblogging conference of the world on January 23-24, 2009 and shared current ideas, concepts and solutions around the platforms Twitter, Laconi.ca, identi.ca in first-hand sessions and workshops. A true premiere!
We had a great audience and great guests, a wonderful classic location in the Patio of the State and University Library of Hamburg and plenty of delicious food for two days. Unfortunately the video live stream didn’t work as planned and we had to find a workaround for it on the second day (Many thanks to @picki!). The mashup format of conference and barcamp style did work quite well. The sessions were great and the two panels were extraordinary highlights. We’ll publish the original conference video archive in a short while here in the MBC09 blog. We learned some lessons and we will discuss these issues while planning the next conference in complete transparency.

What’s next?
I am proud and happy to announce the next microblogging event will be the MBC09 Summer Camp in Cologne, Germany early September 2009. Planning will start right on this Monday. Registration within a couple of days. The conference will be in cooperation with sevenload. Hopefully we will see a lot of participants from France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and UK then. So the conference will be held in English. Hashtag for the Summer Camp is “MBC09SC”.
During the DLD09 last week in Munich Loïc Le Meur asked me to join the mega event at Le Web in Paris in December 2009 and participate with a special MBC09 or as a speaker. I’m very honored and excited! A thousand thanks to Loïc! Hashtag for MBC09 at Le Web is “MBC09Paris”.
